Sports Bra Top

If you plan on doing high impact, or even low impact, exercising, it’s important that you have the right sports bra to provide your breasts with support. Without a support sports bra you could end up dealing with bounce, stretching of breast tissue, sagging, and more. Many women aren’t sure how to buy a good sports bra. Here are some of the most common mistakes women make when purchasing a sports bra so you can avoid making them yourself.

Mistake #1 – Going with the Cheapest Sports Bra

While you want to get a great deal, cheap is not always going to mean better. Often some of the cheaper bras are not well constructed, which means you won’t have the support you need when you are out there exercising.

Mistake #2 – Not Trying on the Bra

Don’t just grab and go when purchasing a sports bra. Even if you know your bra size, it’s a good idea to try on the bra before you make the purchase. Not all bras are made the same, especially when it comes to sports bras, so you need to try on the bra to make sure it fits, and you also need to ensure it offers the support you need.

Mistake #3 – Choosing a Non-Absorbent Material

When you exercise, you sweat. Don’t choose material in a sports bra that is not absorbent or you’ll end up with the sweat chafing your skin. Go with a material that absorbs sweat so you are more comfortable while exercising.

Mistake #4 – No Support Underneath

Some of the cheaper bras don’t have support underneath. You should have support under the breasts, and the bra should not totally rely on the straps for support. If it does this, you’ll have the straps cutting into your shoulder’s, which is uncomfortable.

Mistake #5 – Forgetting to Consider the Shoulder Straps

Many women forget to consider the shoulder straps, going with small straps that end up biting into the skin. It’s a better choice to go with wider straps that are built to be comfortable for you.

Mistake #6 – Buying a Bra for the Wrong Activities

There are different types of sports bras out there. Some are designed for low impact activities, while others are made for higher impact exercising. If you purchase a low impact bra for running, you won’t have the support you need, so make sure you purchase the right sports bra for the activities you intend to engage in.

Mistake #7 – Purchasing a Bra without a Bottom Wide Band

Pick out a bra with a small band on the bottom and you’ll get uncomfortable fast. It won’t provide you with the needed support and it will begin to dig into skin and move around while you are exercising. You need a wide band on the bottom so that you have plenty of support and the bra is comfortably kept in place while you work out.
